Stay Hydrated with Crystal Light Pure

Water is a fascinating element. It’s powerful and useful and vital to our very existence. It also seems to be the go to answer for a number of ailments from constipation to muscle soreness to the common cold. You can scarcely make it out of grade school without being taught how important water is to our health and well being. For instance, “Water gives cells shape and acts as a medium where body processes can occur”. (source)

Adults are encouraged to drink anywhere from 8 to 13 cups of water a day (source) and “according to the American Dietetic Association’s Complete Food and Nutrition Guide, the average adult loses about 2½ quarts or about 10 cups of water daily. To maintain your body’s fluid balance, you need to replace it each day.” (source)

What’s the catch?

If you’re like me, even though you know all this, you still don’t get as much water and fluids during the day as you need. For many, it’s a matter of taste, water is boring and flavorless. It’s much more interesting to drink a soda or sports drink or fruit juice. suggests, “Adding a teaspoon of sugar, a little fruit juice or a small amount of powdered drink mix flavors plain water and may encourage fluid intake.”

And that’s what Crystal Light has accomplished with their newest product, Crystal Light Pure which contains no artificial sweeteners, flavors or preservatives. It is sweetened with sugar and TruviaTM, an all-natural, no-calorie sweetener derived from the stevia plant, and it is colored and flavored with natural ingredients. It offers a naturally sweetened, great-tasting way for women to enjoy drinking the water they need and contains just 15 calories per 8 fl. oz. serving (one/half stick), compared to other leading fitness beverages which contain 10 to 50 calories for a similar serving size. (Compared to 10 calories in Propel, 20 calories in G2 and 50 calories in Gatorade per 8 fl. oz. serving)

March is National  Nutrition Month

With spring just around the corner, this a great time to shake off some of the bad habits that form during the winter months. And if you know you need to be drinking more water, the American Dietetic Association suggests:

Some great ways to make sure you’re drinking enough each day are to take a water break instead of a coffee break, keep a cup or bottle of water handy at your desk, take a drink whenever you walk by a water fountain and keep a bottle of water in your backpack or tote bag.

The new Crystal Light Pure comes in convenient On The Go packages and is available in five delicious flavors: Grape, Strawberry Kiwi, Tropical Blend, Mixed Berry and Lemonade. Keep some in your purse, your desk and your car. When you know you should choose water, you can be prepared to give it a boost of flavor that will be make drinking it fun and interesting!
