Featured O2O Member: Katie Clark

We’ve loved working with Katie of Clarks Condensed on all kinds of projects, from food to parenting, over the past few years. And now we get to share more about her and her life with you!

“I’m a mom of two adorable little boys living in Colorado with them and my husband. I graduated with a degree in communications, with an emphasis in print journalism, from Brigham Young University in 2013. I love spending time with family, cooking and crafting, and watching HGTV (I have big plans to become a house flipper one of these days ;-).”

Favorite O2O Projects you’ve worked on:

I really enjoy any of the projects where I can come up with yummy new recipes!

Try Katie’s Sweet & Spicy Pork Chops & Hawaiian Teriyaki Burger from the #GrillPorkSweeps campaign and her Pulled Pork Green Chile Pizza from Porksgiving!

Favorite part of being an O2O Member:

I love the variety of projects that are available, and that it seems like it’s a tight-knit community!

Tell us how you came to be a blogger.

Well, I started blogging in 2008 before I went to college. I absolutely loved writing in that blog about my experiences, observations, etc. It was at this point that I started reading other blogs – mainly lifestyle ones (and Picky Palate – loved that site!)

When I was about to graduate, I had to do an internship. Since I just had a baby, I was fortunate enough to find an internship with a medical technology blogger out of Vegas. I couldn’t believe that you could really make money blogging. Then I “attended” an online conference my husband’s cousin was putting on called the Online Blog Con. It was so inspiring, so I started Clarks Condensed, learned everything I could, and we haven’t looked back since. Now I actually help run that conference (, our blog is our only source of income, and I love it! I feel very grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to continue my passion for writing as I raise my two young boys from home.

The main reason I started blogging was because I had a very strong desire to spread positive messages – especially in regards to family and pregnancy – across the Internet. When I was pregnant with my first son, I suffered from depression, and it was often fueled by all the negative things I read online about becoming a parent. When I became a parent, and it was quite possibly the best thing ever, I realized that I wanted to share that with others.

My husband came up with the name because I couldn’t think of anything 🙂 Our topic is “family lifestyle”, so basically, I write about whatever I want. My favorite (and most popular) topics are about pregnancy. I’m very passionate about that!

Name another blogger you admire and why.

Hilary Erikson at Pulling Curls. She writes great content and is constantly working so hard to improve her blog and marketing. She works very hard, all the while being a part-time labor and delivery nurse, PTO president, and a mom to three kids. I don’t know how she does it!

Is there a piece of advice, quote, or mantra that you live by?

“Comparison is the thief of joy.”

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

The one thing I want people to think when they think about me is that I truly loved my family and being a mother and wife. When I had my youngest (Oliver), right before I was discharged from the hospital, the nurse told me, “Sometimes when people leave with their babies, I just about cry thinking about the situation that baby was born in to. Not you though. You are such a good mom. You are doing such a good job. I’m not worried about your baby at all.” To me, that is a compliment that has meant more to me than much else (especially since I was super emotional and feeling inadequate, having just had a baby 🙂

What was your last best meal?

Pumpkin Alfredo – we had it for dinner just last night (recipe on my blog!)

Is there a song you can’t get enough of, listen to on repeat, know all the lyrics, obsessed with?

Lately, I’ve been loving the song “I Feel Better When I’m Dancing” by Megan Trainor. Little known fact about me is that I dance around the house all day long (and occasionally in public places..) Thankfully it doesn’t embarass my son yet – he joins in!

What is the best thing to do where you live?

Well, most people seem to come to Colorado for the skiing. But I’m not a big skiier. There are some great hikes though!

Night owl or early bird?

Night owl. I hate getting up early.

What is your favorite time of the year?

Three things you can’t live without (besides family/friends/faith).

Costco. Cheezits and Chocolate (not together.) Netflix (especially Grey’s Anatomy and HGTV)
