Sponsored Posts that Rock On the Next #O2OChat

Our monthly #O2OChat Hangout is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th at 1:00Pm ET. The Hangout will be broadcast on air and we invite you to come by and watch, make comments, and ask questions!

In June, we covered How to Write a Fabulous Review and this month we’re going to take a look at How To Rock a Sponsored Post.

Our discussion about The Review Post focused on those times when a blogger receives an item from a network or a brand and is asked to share their thoughts and experiences with it on their blogs. Generally, these kinds of posts do not come with any compensation beyond being provided with free product.

The other side of this coin is The Sponsored Post. Again, generally this means that a network or brand is paying a blogger to spread the word to their readers and communities about a product, brand promotion, brand experience, or event.

These posts are more advertorial in content since they do not provide feedback about the bloggers’ experience with a product, service, or event. This can make writing a sponsored post tricky. You don’t want to come off sounding like a commerical but at the same time, you want to be sure and share the brand’s objectives with your readers and community.

So what’s a blogger to do? How can you honor the commitment you’ve made to the brand but also be engaging and authentic with your readers? Come by our next #O2OChat Hangout and listen in as we discuss what makes a rockin’ sponsored post.
