April is the mommy behind April’s Little Family and Mama Loves Food. As a food blogger, April is known for her simple yet delicious recipes that don’t break the budget. Most of her recipes use just a few ingredients and (unless the recipe uses a specialty product) you most likely already have everything for them in your kitchen. And her photos? Definitely drool inducing! April’s family may have started out little but it continues to grow, not only as the boys get bigger but as more babies come along. Late last year, April welcomed her fourth child, a girl, into their “little” family. April’s little family lives in Florida where they enjoy visiting parks, including that one with the very famous mouse.
Since April is a food blogger we asked, “What is your favorite recipe that you’ve shared on your blog?”
Oh, wow. I’ve posted hundreds of recipes, so I don’t know that I have an ultimate favorite, but my current personal favorite is the Garlic Dill Refrigerator Pickles. The readers current favorite is my Slow Cooker Baked Potato Soup – and for good reason, it’s deeeelicious.
I’m known for… cooking a lot of food. I’m always worried about not having enough (especially if we’re hosting a party or guests), so I tend to overcook. Thankfully we have two deep freezers that I can stock up with leftovers. Works out well for busy evenings when I just don’t have time too cook a meal.
I’m working on… renovating a house! We recently bought our “dream home” and are currently completely renovating it. The process is both exciting and terrifying. Currently more terrifying than exciting.
10 years from now I… will have three teenaged boys and a preteen girl. See above re: terrifying!
I’m currently addicted to… homemade pickles and roasted bone marrow. No, I’m not pregnant. This was a food question, right?
I find joy… in my family.
My secret ambition… is to figure it all out. Whatever ‘it’ is. Which, I don’t know.
I can’t do without… my family. I know, corny, but seriously.
I’m most creative… in the middle of the night.
I admire… good parents who aren’t afraid to say ‘no’ to their kids.
When I grow up… I want to learn how to keep a clean house. Okay, that’s not true at all. I want to be able to afford a weekly maid service.
Do you sing in the shower? I’m sorry, the what? You mean that little room where I turn the water on and get trampled by children wanting to ‘play in the rain’? I do sing in the car though. My kids think it’s both mortifying and hilarious. Probably more mortifying if we’re being completely honest.
Favorite line from a movie or tv show? Oh, I’m terrible at memorizing lines. My husband recites movies constantly as he sees the lines relate to our daily lives and (much to his dismay and regardless of how often I’ve seen the movie) I inevitably ask, ‘huh, what’s that from?’ I have been known to shout ‘BAZINGA!’ from time to time, though.
If you could go anywhere for one day, where would you go? To bed.
Morning person or nighttime person? Nighttime. Unless we’re on vacation, then for reasons wholly unknown to me I become a morning bird and promptly fall asleep at 9pm. I wish I could explain it.
Three words my friends would use to describe me are: If they didn’t think I would hear? Overbearing, (too) honest, & loyal. I tried to cheat by asking a friend, but she’s ignoring my question.
