Celebrating Independence Day

It’s the beginning of the 4th of July holiday weekend and Red, White & Blue abounds! My neighbor’s boys have been “testing” out fireworks all week, grills are being primed for some heavy duty use and flags will soon be waving from porches. My mouth is ready for juicy, grilled burgers, creamy potato salad and sweet watermelon! We’ll spend the day listening to a collection of music that my husband’s grandfather put together long before the term “playlist” was popular. There will be games of Cornhole, the kids will be sporting their annual red, white & blue t-shirts and I can almost smell the sparklers or maybe that’s leftover burnt ozone smell from the neighbor boys?

And of course our members are in a festive, patriotic mood! We love seeing what they have planned for the upcoming holiday weekend:

Don’t know where to begin? The Happy Housewife has several decorating, food and craft ideas for the 4th!

Terra from Heck of a Bunch is offline and enjoying camping with family & friends!

It’s a holiday, so you know Bridget from Bake at 350 has a super cute cookie/dessert idea, right? Of course she does and it’s stellar!

April from Sweet Life In the Valley gets to spend the weekend with her family at The Homestead in Midway, UT, a beautiful, 125-year old resort in the Wasatch Mountains!

ChrisAnn from lovefeast table scored a super cute outfit from Old Navy, so she’ll be celebrating the holiday in style!

I think just about every holiday you can celebrate has a corresponding pasta craft for kids. These pasta fireworks from Brimful Curiosities are quite different from any other pasta craft I’ve seen before!

Glenda from Busy-at-Home has a delicious way to spice up your holiday food table with a Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers Dip!

Leticia of TechSavvyMama has some interesting 4th of July tips including how to find out more about the different types of fireworks.

Tésa of 2Wired2Tired takes a look at past 4th of July celebrations and my how those kids grow!

And me? I’m just a teeny bit obsessed with Pinterest and I may have made a special 4th of July pinboard with a few things that caught my eye!

What are your holiday plans? Do you travel or stay at home? Is it a cook-out or a BBQ?
